Nomos recently unveiled new additions to its Ahoi Neomatik collection, introducing the Sand and Sky models with a refined 36mm diameter. These timepieces expand upon the sporty characteristics of the Ahoi series, first presented in 2023, by offering a more understated size and a cleaner dial presentation without a date function. While retaining the vibrant, nature-inspired color palette that set the earlier models apart from Nomos's typically reserved aesthetic, these smaller versions aim to appeal to those seeking compact proportions.

These latest iterations, the Ahoi Neomatik Sand and Ahoi Neomatik Sky, are notable for their reduced 36.3mm case size, a significant downsize from the previous 38.5mm models. Despite their more modest dimensions, these watches remain highly capable sports companions. The stainless steel casing preserves the distinctive Ahoi style, known for its sportier take on the classic Tangente design, complete with a screw-down crown, integrated crown guards, and an impressive 200m water resistance. This makes them perfectly suited for various water activities, including swimming and recreational diving. The case thickness is kept slender at just over 9mm, and a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the dial. For the caseback, both solid and transparent sapphire options are available.

The Sand variant showcases a warm, subtly textured beige dial complemented by luminous hour markers. Its sub-dial at 6 o'clock features the characteristic orange seconds hand. Similarly, the Sky model, with its light blue dial, includes white Super-LumiNova markers along the minute track and a matching orange seconds hand. By eliminating the date window, which was present at the 3 o'clock position on the larger versions, both dials achieve a more harmonious and uncluttered look. Optimal legibility is ensured by rhodium-plated hands with luminous inserts and clearly defined hour indices. Both timepieces are driven by the in-house calibre DUW 3001, a slim automatic movement from Nomos, measuring only 3.2mm in height. This movement, incorporating the brand’s proprietary Swing System escapement, operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of up to 43 hours. Through the display caseback, one can admire the exquisite Glashütte finishing, including ribbing, perlage, blued screws, and the traditional three-quarter plate construction. The watches come paired with waterproof woven textile straps, light grey for the Sand and blue-black for the Sky, secured with a pin buckle. A steel bracelet is also offered as an alternative.
