Seiko Presage Classic Series: New 38mm Models with Tomioka Silk-Inspired Dials
Experience the Art of Time: Seiko Presage Classic Series, Where Silk Meets Precision
A Legacy of Exquisite Dials: Celebrating Tomioka Silk in the Presage Classic Series
The Seiko Presage Classic Series is renowned for its captivating dials, often taking center stage in its new releases. Departing from typical discussions about case materials or mechanics, the focus consistently returns to the intricate colors and textures of these watch faces. Following previous interpretations such as porcelain dials, open-heart designs, and the 36mm "Edo Silk" models, Seiko once again turns to silk for inspiration, this time drawing from Tomioka silk.
Introducing the New 38mm Case Size: A Perfect Balance in the Presage Collection
These four new timepieces also introduce a versatile 38mm case size, offering a compelling middle ground between the collection's existing 36mm and 40mm versions. This new dimension provides an ideal fit for a broader range of wrists and preferences, enhancing the series' appeal.
The Art of Tomioka Silk: Crafted Dials with Unique Depth and Elegance
Tomioka silk, a distinguished product of Japanese heritage and craftsmanship, serves as the muse for these latest dials. Seiko masterfully employs a stamped pattern to replicate the silk's texture, creating a guilloché-like effect that imbues the dials with exceptional depth and sophistication. The collection comprises one limited edition model alongside three regular-production timepieces, each possessing its own distinctive style.
Distinguished Designs: The Limited Edition and Regular Production Models
The Seiko Presage Classic Series "Tomioka Silk Promotion Organisation" Limited Edition HCC008 stands out with its dial, inspired by a rare silk variety from Gunma Prefecture, enhanced by a pearl-like coating for a radiant shimmer. This exclusive model is uniquely paired with a pink-gold-colored case. Complementing it are the regular-production HCC001, HCC002, and HCC003, featuring shironeri white, wakatake-iro green, and sakura-iro pink dials, respectively.
Refined Case Finishes and Water Resistance: Durability Meets Elegance
Measuring 38mm in diameter and 12.9mm thick, the new case size offers a balanced presence. The HCC008 boasts a steel case with a sophisticated pink-gold-colored plating, while the HCC001, HCC002, and HCC003 utilize stainless steel cases fortified with Seiko's super-hard coating. All four models feature a transparent screwed case back, providing a view of the movement, and offer a practical 100-meter water resistance.
Precision Engineering: The Calibre 6R51 Movement and Strap Details
At the heart of these four timepieces lies Seiko's in-house Calibre 6R51. This automatic movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and boasts an impressive 72-hour power reserve. The HCC001 and HCC002 are fitted with a stainless steel bracelet featuring a super-hard coating and a deployment clasp. The HCC003 and the limited-edition HCC008 come with dark brown leather straps, secured by a three-fold clasp. The HCC008's strap design pays homage to the brick facade of the Tomioka Silk Mill, while the HCC003's strap draws its color from the trunk of the cherry tree. Both leather straps are sourced from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries, ensuring quality and ethical production.
Availability and Pricing: Details for Collectors and Enthusiasts
The new Presage Classic Series Tomioka silk models will be available starting July 2026. The limited edition HCC008, restricted to 2,000 pieces, is priced at EUR 1,200. The bracelet-equipped HCC001 and HCC002 will retail for EUR 1,050, while the leather-strap HCC003 is set at EUR 1,030. These timepieces offer a blend of historical artistry, precise engineering, and a versatile new size, making them a noteworthy addition to Seiko's esteemed collection.
