This collaboration marked the M3's international debut beyond Japan. The Minase Mastercraft J3: A Tribute to Simplicity

The latest Minase Mastercraft J3 is available with three distinct dial options: white (J3-NBLNWH-SSD), beige (J3-NGYNBE-SSD), and black (J3-NBKNBK-SSD). Its stainless steel case measures 37mm in diameter and boasts a slender 9.9mm profile. In contrast, the M3 had a 38.8mm diameter and 10.8mm thickness. While the size reduction may seem modest on paper, it significantly alters the watch's proportions, making it incredibly versatile. The combination of a circular dial beneath the sapphire crystal and an angular case evokes a distinctive 1970s aesthetic without resorting to a mere vintage re-issue.

Craftsmanship and Design Prowess

Despite its reduced dimensions, the J3's case, which offers 5 ATM water resistance compared to the M3's 10 ATM, unmistakably retains Minase's signature identity. The stainless steel surfaces feature a blend of circular brushing and manual Sallaz polishing. This meticulous polishing technique creates distortion-free mirror finishes and precise transitions, hallmarks of the brand's artistry. Introduced in 2019, this 24-jewel automatic caliber operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and provides approximately 42 hours of power reserve. This relatively compact and reliable movement also contributes to the J3's more approachable pricing compared to Minase's more complex offerings.

Each of the white, beige, and black dials features a subtle sand-textured surface, designed to create dynamic light reflections. The sharply cut hands offer a clear visual contrast, while the indexes and hands are enhanced with blue luminous material for improved legibility. The J3 is set to officially launch during Geneva Watch Days, scheduled from September 2nd to 6th. Prices, excluding taxes, begin at US$2,050 for the watch on a leather strap. The rubber-strap variant is available for US$2,080, while the version with the stainless steel bracelet retails for US$2,500.
