Louis Erard Unveils New Regulator Esprit Flinqué Watches

April 20

Louis Erard, under the leadership of Manuel Emch, continues its journey of making artisanal craftsmanship and innovative partnerships accessible within the watchmaking industry. The brand is renowned for demonstrating that refined decorative arts and collaborative creations are not exclusive to high-end luxury labels. Through dynamic partnerships with independent watchmakers and artists, Louis Erard consistently delivers unique timepieces. The latest collection of Regulator watches exemplifies this ethos, featuring stunning dials that draw inspiration from the intricate art of flinqué enamel, a testament to the brand's dedication to reinterpreting traditional techniques with a modern sensibility.

The Regulator model from Louis Erard serves as the perfect canvas for these transformations, primarily due to its distinct display of hours, minutes, and seconds on separate axes. This design characteristic makes it a favored choice for artistic enhancements and special editions, including a notable previous collaboration with Worn & Wound, which showcased a blue flinqué enamel-inspired dial. Building on this success, the blue Louis Erard Regulator for Worn & Wound is now reintroduced alongside a fresh grey variant, signifying a three-year journey of development. The innovative Esprit Flinqué design reinterprets the classic Regulator layout with a three-tiered structure. The base layer, intricately fluted, supports two openworked sub-dials for hours and seconds, positioned vertically. These are the first openworked elements to be integrated into a Louis Erard watch, orbiting beneath a larger upper counter dedicated to minutes. Time is indicated by two pointers for hours and seconds, while the minutes are elegantly displayed by Louis Erard's signature fir-tree hand, marked by clear white sans-serif numerals, maintaining a minimalist aesthetic free of overt branding, save for the subtle "Swiss Made" inscription.

These new Esprit Flinqué models pay homage to the delicate flinqué enamel technique by replicating its opulent textures. Their design, with a fluted pattern radiating like sunbeams, evokes the geometric engravings often found in flinqué enamel. The lowest dial layer, in light blue or grey, transitions to a deeper shade on the lacquered minutes counter above, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow across its three-dimensional ridges. Encased in a polished 39mm stainless steel body, with a 12.82mm thickness, the watch is protected by a domed sapphire crystal, revealing the Sellita SW266-1 automatic movement through a transparent caseback. This Swiss-made movement, with a 38-hour power reserve, features a personalized openworked rotor. Each color variant is limited to 99 pieces, priced at CHF 3,990 (excluding tax), and comes with a grained calfskin strap with a quick-release mechanism for effortless customization.

These timepieces are more than mere instruments for telling time; they embody a philosophy where artistic excellence and innovation are harmoniously blended. They remind us that true beauty lies not just in opulence, but in the thoughtful integration of heritage and modernity, inspiring a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship that enriches our daily lives with elegance and precision.
