Albishorn Unveils Type 10 Officer Chronograph with New Cream Dial
Albishorn, a relatively nascent brand, is known for its distinctive approach to watch design, creating timepieces that evoke a sense of 'imaginary vintage.' Founded by Sebastien Chaulmontet, a figure with a rich background in watchmaking, the brand conceptualizes watches that could have existed in the past, filling historical gaps with their innovative designs. Following successful releases such as the Maxigraph and Type 10 Chronograph, Albishorn introduces a new iteration of its pilot chronograph, the Type 10 Officer, now with an elegant cream dial, presenting a fascinating 'ancestor' to the renowned Type 20 pilot watches.
This latest Type 10 Officer model maintains the core design elements that define the series while introducing a fresh aesthetic. The watch features a robust 39mm stainless steel case with a blend of satin and polished finishes, complemented by a domed sapphire crystal and a solid steel case back, emphasizing its utilitarian appeal. A notable design aspect is the uniquely positioned bronze crown at 10:30 and a red anodized aluminum monopusher, allowing for intuitive control of the chronograph functions. The black DLC-coated bidirectional bezel, with its 60-minute scale, further enhances the watch's vintage pilot aesthetic.
The centerpiece of this new release is undoubtedly the cream-toned dial, which imparts a distinct vintage character. The dial is adorned with black Super-LumiNova Arabic numerals and black-outlined, beige-lumed hands, ensuring excellent legibility. Its textured surface and the unconventional placement of the small seconds and 30-minute counters at 4:30 and 7:30, respectively, add to its unique charm, reminiscent of a classic dashboard instrument. Powering the watch is a COSC-certified, hand-wound proprietary movement, the calibre ALB02 M, which is a re-engineered version of the 7750 architecture. This movement, notable for its slim profile of 5.70mm and a generous 65-hour power reserve, also incorporates a patented chronograph function indicator, a subtle dot above the logo at 12 o'clock, verifying its operational status. The Albishorn Type 10 Officer is a limited edition of 99 pieces, offered with both black and beige leather straps, and will be available for purchase exclusively online.
The Albishorn Type 10 Officer Chronograph with its cream dial is more than just a timepiece; it's a celebration of creative foresight and masterful craftsmanship. It represents a brand's dedication to re-imagining horological history, demonstrating that true innovation often lies in looking to the past with a fresh perspective. This watch embodies the spirit of adventure and precision, serving as a reminder that the finest creations blend functionality with an inspiring narrative.
