Trilobe Unveils Personalized Stellar Timepiece: The Trente-Deux Secret Edition

April 06

Trilobe, established in 2018, distinguishes itself in the horology world by presenting time through a unique arrangement of rotating rings and fixed indicators, eschewing traditional hands. This innovative approach, first seen in their Les Matinaux and Nuit Fantastique collections, was further developed for the sportier Trente-Deux model, which also debuted the brand's proprietary X-Nihilo movement. The latest iteration, the Trente-Deux Secret Edition, builds on this foundation by incorporating a custom-designed celestial dial, offering a deeply personal connection to the cosmos.

The Trente-Deux's housing maintains its original dimensions of 39.5mm diameter and 10.15mm thickness, meticulously crafted from seven distinct components with a blend of brushed, sandblasted, and polished finishes. Its distinctive fluted bezel boasts polished edges and recessed channels, while the integrated design ensures a seamless transition to either a matching bracelet or strap. This model is available in a stainless steel variant and a new 18k rose gold option, paired with a sophisticated dark blue rubber strap, both maintaining a water resistance of 50m. A standout feature is the dial, where each piece is individually configured to display a specific celestial map. This personalization is achieved through precise astronomical calculations, referencing the renowned work of Belgian astronomer Jean Meeus, to accurately depict the star positions for a date, time, and geographic location chosen by the wearer. These constellations are meticulously printed in layers of metallic pigment, creating a subtle three-dimensional effect against a lacquered backdrop, giving the illusion of stars suspended above the dial, alongside Trilobe’s distinctive rotating rings for timekeeping.

Powering this celestial display is Trilobe’s X-Nihilo automatic movement, conceived, developed, and assembled in Paris. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers a 42-hour power reserve and drives the three rotating time rings through a patented mechanism. The movement, visible through a sapphire caseback, showcases modern design and refined craftsmanship. The steel version comes with an integrated bracelet, with an optional rubber strap. The rose gold model is exclusively offered with a textured rubber strap and a complementary folding clasp. Each Trente-Deux Secret Edition is custom-made, with the steel model priced at EUR 21,500 and the 18k rose gold model at EUR 39,500, excluding taxes. This bespoke approach ensures every timepiece is a unique convergence of mechanical artistry and personal astronomy.

The creation of a watch that captures the exact celestial configuration of a moment chosen by its owner is a testament to the boundless possibilities when human ingenuity meets the wonders of the universe. Such a personalized timepiece transcends mere functionality, becoming a wearable narrative of significant life events, a constant reminder of special moments under the stars, and a celebration of individuality. It embodies the profound connection between the micro-engineering of watchmaking and the macro-scale beauty of the cosmos, inspiring us to cherish our personal journeys and the unique moments that define them.
