Tiffany & Co. Unveils the Tiffany Timer: A Modern Chronograph Celebrating 160 Years of Horological Heritage

January 28

Tiffany & Co., globally renowned for its exquisite jewelry, is expanding its horological presence with a significant new release. The brand, established in 1837, is introducing the Tiffany Timer, a limited-edition timepiece of 60 units, marking the 160th anniversary of its initial stopwatch creation. This launch, unveiled at LVMH Watch Week 2026, showcases a unique fusion of Tiffany's signature elegance with the precision engineering of a specially adapted Zenith El Primero chronograph movement, appealing to both collectors and enthusiasts.

This new chronometer, reference 75450125, draws its inspiration from the company's inaugural stopwatch, the Tiffany & Co. Timing Watch, first presented in 1866. Instead of directly replicating the historical pocket watch's aesthetic, the Tiffany Timer presents a contemporary interpretation, leveraging the esteemed El Primero movement from sister LVMH brand, Zenith. The El Primero, celebrated for its pioneering status as one of the first automatic chronograph movements in 1969, retains its relevance and performance in modern watchmaking. The Tiffany Timer's rendition of the El Primero 400 automatic movement operates at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5Hz) and offers approximately 50 hours of power reserve. The movement features distinct finishing on its bridges and a re-calibrated winding system to accommodate a custom rotor, which is an open-worked, curved design incorporating a miniature 18k gold sculpture reminiscent of Tiffany's iconic "Bird on a Rock" brooch.

Encased in a 40mm polished platinum shell, the Tiffany Timer's design is characterized by flowing curves, minimizing sharp edges. It boasts sapphire crystals on both its bezel and screw-down caseback, ensuring water resistance up to 100 meters. The faceted winding crown mirrors the six-pronged "Tiffany Setting" of its famous diamond solitaire rings, flanked by oblong chronograph pushers designed to protect the crown and maintain the watch's harmonious silhouette. The timepiece is finished with a taupe alligator leather strap, secured by an 18k white gold triple-folding clasp. The dial, rendered in Tiffany Blue, achieves its profound color and depth through eight layers of matte varnish and fifteen layers of transparent lacquer. It features baguette-cut diamond hour markers, white gold hands, and subtly printed dark gray markings, with a color-matched Tiffany Blue date disc positioned at 6 o'clock, distinguishing it from Zenith's standard El Primero models.

The Tiffany Timer signifies a promising direction for Tiffany & Co. in the realm of high-end watchmaking. While the brand is primarily recognized for its jewelry, and the widespread fervor for Tiffany Blue dials may have somewhat subsided, this watch represents a thoughtful endeavor to engage serious horology enthusiasts. Its platinum construction, diamond accents, and bespoke El Primero movement contribute to its premium price point of $55,000 USD, positioning it as a significant investment. However, this release demonstrates Tiffany & Co.'s commitment to crafting timepieces that combine its rich heritage with sophisticated mechanical artistry, offering a compelling proposition for those who appreciate both luxury and horological excellence. The brand's venture into more enthusiast-focused designs suggests a future where its watches could increasingly captivate a broader audience, bridging the gap between its jewelry legacy and its growing presence in the watch industry.
