In a dynamic landscape of high-end Japanese independent watchmakers, Tertium Quid Watch Tokyo, conceptualized by long-time friends and seasoned collectors Shun Horiuchi and Takyh Yamashina, presents its inaugural masterpiece, the Model R. This exceptional timepiece, designed to be a 'third entity' in a collector's life, seamlessly integrates timeless aesthetics with intricate mechanical prowess.

The Model R, with its perfectly proportioned 38mm stainless steel case and a height of 11.1mm, exudes understated elegance. Its polished exterior encases a sapphire crystal and a transparent caseback, offering a captivating view of the intricate movement within. The watch features a distinctive dual-crown system on the left side: one crown for setting the time and another dedicated to the alarm function, which can be activated or deactivated as needed. While its water resistance is suitable for daily activities when the alarm is off, it's advisable to keep the watch away from water, especially when the alarm is engaged, to preserve its delicate mechanics.

A striking feature of the Model R is its classical sector-style dial, meticulously crafted in black and silver. The outer silver ring, enhanced with a circular brushed finish, is adorned with a precise black printed track, facilitating effortless time-telling. The central black section provides a captivating contrast with its silvery-white printed track. Blued steel hands gracefully indicate the hours, minutes, and seconds, complemented by a polished fourth hand specifically for the alarm function. This vintage-inspired design evokes the beloved aesthetics of iconic timepieces such as the JLC Memovox and Vulcain Cricket.

At the heart of the Model R beats a meticulously restored and modified vintage A. Schild AS1475 movement. This manually wound caliber has been enhanced with newly manufactured bridges, a redesigned hammer, and a refined gong to optimize its performance. Operating at 18,000 vibrations per hour, it offers a power reserve of 40 hours. The movement showcases exquisite haute horlogerie finishing, including black polishing on the hammer and gong, precisely chamfered edges, hairline brushing, and polished and chamfered screws, all presented with rhodium or yellow gold plating. The visible ring on the backside, often mistaken for a movement casing ring, is, in fact, the precisely engineered gong of the alarm system.

The Tertium Quid Watch Tokyo Model R is completed with a luxurious deep blue French calfskin leather strap, featuring contrasting stitching, meticulously finished edges, and a seamless lining. It is secured to the wrist with a robust stainless steel pin buckle. This exclusive timepiece is limited to just 8 pieces, each priced at JPY 4,600,000, which translates to approximately EUR 24,900 (excluding VAT at the time of publication).
