Stuller and AGTA Launch 'Stuller Color of the Year' Category in Prestigious Awards
In a significant collaboration within the gemstone and jewelry industry, the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) and Stuller, Inc. have unveiled a groundbreaking new award category. Beginning with the 2026 Spectrum & Cutting Edge Awards, designers and cutters will have the opportunity to showcase their mastery of color through the "Stuller Color of the Year" award, with "Signature Red" being the inaugural choice. This initiative highlights Stuller's commitment to innovation and AGTA's dedication to promoting excellence in gemstone artistry.
AGTA and Stuller Introduce 'Signature Red' to Prestigious Awards
In Lafayette, Louisiana, Stuller, Inc., a leading manufacturing giant, and the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) recently forged an exciting new partnership. This collaboration, officially announced via a press release, introduces a new award category to AGTA's celebrated Spectrum & Cutting Edge Awards: the "Stuller Color of the Year." Entries for this prestigious new category will commence in late June 2026.
The inaugural color chosen for this distinguished honor is "Signature Red." This particular hue has already garnered significant attention through recent announcements from the Lafayette-based company. Stuller describes "Signature Red" as a shade that is both audacious and timeless, embodying elements of passion, sophistication, and resilience. It is presented not merely as a color but as a declaration that captures attention and champions individuality.
Eligible gemstones for the "Signature Red" category encompass a rich variety, including but not limited to exquisite rubies, vibrant garnets, and stunning tourmalines. A distinguished judge from Stuller will meticulously evaluate submissions, selecting two winners for this new award: one from the Spectrum jewelry entries, which focus on finished pieces, and another from the Cutting Edge entries, dedicated to loose gemstones.
Alissa Talbot, Executive Director of Diamonds and Gemstones at Stuller, emphasized the dual focus of the award, stating, "With two categories, loose stone and finished jewelry, the awards will honor exceptional interpretations of Stuller’s Signature Red. This approach allows us to recognize both the beauty of a gemstone itself and the craftsmanship and design behind a finished piece."
Morgan Waters, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Stuller, expressed immense pride in this collaboration. "Stuller is incredibly proud to partner with AGTA on the ‘Stuller Color of the Year’ Award," Waters remarked. "Color plays a meaningful role in jewelry design and has long been a way Stuller helps the industry spot emerging trends. This Award celebrates the creativity, craftsmanship, and passion behind colored gemstones, and we’re honored to support jewelers and designers through this new addition to the Spectrum Awards."
AGTA has also conveyed its enthusiasm for the new alliance and eagerly anticipates the inspired entries it will generate. John W. Ford, Sr., CEO of AGTA, shared his excitement during the 2026 AGTA GemFair Tucson, which recently concluded in Arizona. He noted, "AGTA is honored to bring Stuller into the AGTA fold regarding our prestigious Spectrum Awards. Signature Red is sure to inspire many cutters and designers to create masterpieces that will wow judges in this year’s Awards."
Bruce Bridges, AGTA’s Board President, also underscored the profound significance of the partnership. "This partnership is a meaningful one," Bridges stated. "Stuller’s dedication to the industry and contributions are wide and deep, and their sponsorship of this category is an extension of its longtime reputation for innovation and commitment to jewelers."
The submission window for the 2026 AGTA Spectrum & Cutting Edge Awards is set to open in late June 2026, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for color in the jewelry world.
This innovative partnership between Stuller and AGTA not only introduces a vibrant new element to the esteemed Spectrum & Cutting Edge Awards but also underscores the enduring significance of color in jewelry design. By spotlighting "Signature Red" and encouraging creative interpretations across both finished jewelry and loose gemstones, the award promises to inspire unparalleled artistry and innovation. It's a testament to how industry leaders can collaborate to celebrate craftsmanship, identify emerging trends, and foster continued growth and appreciation for the intricate beauty of colored gemstones. This initiative will undoubtedly energize designers and gem cutters, pushing the boundaries of creativity and setting new benchmarks for excellence in the field.
