Serica Introduces New Ref. 5330 Dive Chronometer with Date Function

March 12

Serica, a distinguished French watch manufacturer celebrated for its precision tool watches, is embarking on a new design direction by incorporating a date function into its latest dive watch, the Ref. 5330 Dive Chronometer. This move addresses an ongoing discussion among watch aficionados regarding the utility of a date display on professional dive instruments. While purists often argue against it, citing that divers rarely consult the date underwater, Serica acknowledges the prevalent use of these watches in daily life, effectively blending specialized utility with everyday convenience.

The Ref. 5330 maintains the foundational design and robust capabilities of its predecessor, the no-date Ref. 5303. It features a meticulously crafted 39mm stainless steel case with a blend of brushed and polished finishes, including elegant chamfers on the lugs. The watch boasts a water resistance of 300 meters, secured by a screw-down crown and a solid steel back, and is protected by a thick, double-domed sapphire crystal. A significant enhancement is the new unidirectional bezel, now featuring a dual-scale, dual-material configuration with a count-up 60-minute scale on an anthracite grey ceramic ring, offering a sophisticated faded appearance. The matte black dial is thoughtfully redesigned to integrate a date window at 3 o’clock with red numerals, ensuring visual harmony and clear legibility. Powering this new model is the COSC-certified SoProd M100 automatic movement, known for its reliability and precision, offering a 42-hour power reserve.

The Ref. 5330 Date Dive Chronometer comes with a Vesper stainless steel bracelet, designed for comfort and durability, available in multiple lengths. Additionally, an elastic nylon strap in white and red is included, offering versatility in styling. Positioned as a permanent collection piece, this new offering from Serica is available for EUR 1,690 or USD 1,990 through the brand's official website, providing a compelling option for those seeking a high-performance dive watch with the added benefit of a date complication.

The introduction of the Serica Ref. 5330 Dive Chronometer with a date function reflects a brand's forward-thinking approach, recognizing evolving consumer preferences while staying true to its heritage of producing reliable and aesthetically pleasing timepieces. This innovative blending of tradition with modern practicality not only enhances the watch's appeal but also signifies a positive step towards creating versatile instruments that serve both professional demands and everyday elegance.
