Precious Sea Summit Inaugurated in Torre del Greco, the Global Hub for Marine Jewelry
The inaugural Precious Sea Summit, a groundbreaking annual event focused on the intricate world of precious organic materials from the sea, is set to commence on May 21, 2026. This significant gathering will take place in Torre del Greco, Naples, a city celebrated worldwide for its mastery in coral and cameo craftsmanship. The initiative, spearheaded by Assocoral and the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), in collaboration with the Consorzio Corallo e Cammeo Torrese, aims to strengthen local production, foster international connections, and champion Italian artisanal expertise on a global stage.
This pioneering summit is designed to unite a diverse array of participants, including artisans, businesses, designers, research institutions, industry associations, and governmental bodies. The agenda will delve into critical issues facing the sector, such as ensuring the traceability of materials, safeguarding marine ecosystems, and upholding the heritage of age-old professions. Leveraging the extensive experience of the Italian Exhibition Group, particularly through its Vicenzaoro platform, the Summit will serve as a vital forum for dialogue and collaboration, driving the formulation of collective strategies. This collaborative approach underscores the rich and intricate nature of 'Made in Italy' excellence, which harmoniously blends innovation, sustainable practices, and deep-rooted traditions.
Vincenzo Aucella, President of ASSOCORAL, expressed immense pride in hosting this high-level discussion on the sustainability of organic materials in the jewelry domain. He highlighted that the partnership with IEG would establish a clear trajectory for the Summit's future, offering an immersive journey into Torre del Greco's extraordinary cultural legacy. This region, nestled between the sea and Mount Vesuvius, is a testament to centuries of exceptional artisan knowledge and traditions.
Matteo Farsura, IEG's Global Exhibition Manager for the Jewellery & Fashion division, emphasized IEG's commitment to supporting production districts. He noted that their involvement in the Summit reflects their role as a strategic platform, facilitating synergy among companies, institutions, and trade associations. The Precious Sea Summit is a key addition to IEG's Jewellery Agenda, further solidifying their presence in the market with 25 events planned for 2026.
Gaetano Cavalieri, President of CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation and a principal partner of the event, underscored the importance of recognizing Italy's exemplary artisanal traditions. He described Torre del Greco as an international benchmark for coral and cameo artistry, exemplifying how local identity and global competitiveness can mutually enrich each other and generate significant value. The Summit will also explore the critical role of youth engagement and the seamless transfer of invaluable expertise to future generations. The event benefits from the support of the Italian Trade Agency, Confindustria Federorafi, Confcommercio Federpreziosi, D.OR.Campania, and Federalberghi Costa del Vesuvio. Moreover, it is organized in close cooperation with the Municipality of Torre del Greco and the Banca di Credito Popolare, which will host a moderated roundtable at Palazzo Vallelonga, alongside visits to the 'Francesco Degni' Art School, workshops, and the Coral Museum.
Luigi Mennella, Mayor of Torre del Greco, conveyed his gratitude to the organizers and the Italian Exhibition Group for choosing his city to host this prestigious annual gathering. He voiced confidence that local professionals and businesses would once again demonstrate their exceptional craftsmanship and operational prowess, for which they are renowned globally. The event also seeks to highlight the outstanding training opportunities available to young people, ensuring the enduring vitality of these traditions.
