Porsche Design Unveils Special Edition Chronograph 1 for Nürburgring's Centennial

August 18

Porsche Design introduces a distinctive Chronograph 1 model, created to honor the centenary of the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife in 2027. This special timepiece is exclusively offered to those acquiring the Porsche 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring, linking high-performance automotive engineering with sophisticated watchmaking. The Nürburgring, a renowned circuit, has been central to Porsche's motorsport endeavors and vehicle development for nearly a century.

The Chronograph 1 – 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring builds upon the enduring legacy of the original Chronograph 1, first conceived by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972. It showcases a 40.8mm titanium case, finished with a black titanium carbide coating for a sleek, instrumental aesthetic. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters and features a sapphire crystal with multiple anti-reflective layers. Its dial, drawing inspiration from the Porsche 911's dashboard, features clear white markers and hands, a tachymeter scale, and chronograph functions, including a subtle green Aero Disc graphic referencing the Nordschleife's natural surroundings.

Driving this remarkable watch is the Porsche Design Calibre WERK 01.140, an automatic chronograph movement certified by COSC, ensuring exceptional accuracy. This movement provides a 48-hour power reserve, and its rotor is ingeniously designed to resemble the anniversary GT3's wheel, complete with a California Gold finish and GT3 branding. The timepiece is complemented by a strap crafted from authentic Porsche interior leather, accented with green textile backing and GT Silver stitching, mirroring the car's interior. An additional green textile strap is also provided, both easily interchangeable via Porsche Design's quick-change mechanism.

This limited-edition Chronograph 1 is a testament to the enduring partnership between Porsche's automotive excellence and Porsche Design's commitment to precision timekeeping. It symbolizes the relentless pursuit of performance and innovation that defines both brands, offering a unique collector's item that beautifully melds heritage with cutting-edge craftsmanship. The collaboration serves as a reminder that true mastery is found in the meticulous attention to detail and the celebration of iconic milestones.
