A Photo Report: Discovering Exceptional Timepieces and Exhibitions at Dubai Watch Week 2025 (Part 2)
Our journey through Dubai Watch Week 2025 continues, following up on the initial installment that showcased remarkable watch discoveries and unexpected events. This second part delves deeper into the vibrant atmosphere, highlighting additional extraordinary timepieces, fascinating exhibitions, and memorable encounters from this significant gathering in the world of horology.
During the event, we took a brief but captivating detour to the Icons of Porsche event, which attracted enthusiasts and their prized vehicles from across the globe. This side trip underscored the natural convergence of passion between watch collectors and car aficionados. Back at Dubai Watch Week, a visit to the Seddiqi Rolex CPO Salon offered an exclusive viewing of rare Rolex models, including a white gold Pearlmaster and a Tridor Day-Date from 1985, alongside a unique yellow gold Stella Day-Date. A particular highlight was the off-catalog 40mm Day-Date, adorned with rubies on the bezel and Roman numerals, a piece still in production. Further explorations revealed a Roger Smith Series 2 with Eastern Arabic numerals and intricate Arabesque engraving, presented by Hamied Seddiqi, Chairman of Seddiqi Holdings, emphasizing the blend of traditional craftsmanship and unique aesthetics.
The Audemars Piguet "House of Wonders" exhibition was another focal point, celebrating 150 years of the brand's heritage. Guests were welcomed through a replica of the original Audemars Piguet atelier, leading into an expansive space filled with historical timepieces. The exhibition featured an interactive pop-up book detailing the brand's history, a massive family tree illustrating the origins of the Audemars and Piguet families, and a replica of the original contract signed by the founders. Hundreds of watches were on display, ranging from vintage openworked models like the 16204BA "Jumbo" Royal Oak to the 15407BC Double Balancier Openworked in frosted white gold. The "Research and Development" room was particularly engaging, showcasing all the RD watches and demonstrating gear trains, captivating even legendary watchmaker Philippe Dufour. Among the most innovative exhibits was a 3D-printed case for a mockup of the RD#5 movement, designed to test the functionality of pushers against wrist movements. The exhibition concluded with a lavish lounge adorned with gifts and décor from brand partners, providing a space for guests to relax and appreciate the intricate artistry. Beyond these structured displays, the watch spotting continued, with enthusiasts showcasing diverse pieces like a vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre, a Heuer Carrera, an "Evil Clapton" Universal Genève Tri-Compax, and unique F.P. Journe chronographs. The variety extended to elegant pieces such as a Lange 1 and a Patek Philippe Nautilus with diamonds, reflecting the broad appeal of haute horlogerie.
Dubai Watch Week 2025 truly exemplified the enduring allure and dynamic evolution of watchmaking, seamlessly blending historical reverence with future innovation. The event serves as a powerful reminder that the world of watches is not merely about timekeeping, but about art, craftsmanship, and a shared passion that transcends boundaries. It encourages us to appreciate the intricate beauty and engineering marvels that these timepieces represent, fostering a sense of community and wonder among enthusiasts worldwide.
