Parmigiani Fleurier Introduces New Tonda PF Sport Chronograph in “Silver Verzasca”

March 30

Parmigiani Fleurier expands its esteemed Tonda PF Sport collection with an exciting new iteration, a high-frequency chronograph in stainless steel. Under the leadership of CEO Guido Terreni since 2021, the Tonda PF series has been meticulously refined, focusing on sophisticated luxury sport watches that emphasize understated elegance and superior craftsmanship. The Tonda PF Sport, introduced in 2023 with automatic and chronograph options, is designed to be a more athletic complement to the core Tonda PF range, originally featuring integrated rubber straps. As warmer seasons approach, the brand reveals this striking steel model, whose color palette is influenced by the pristine beauty of Switzerland's Verzasca Valley.

This latest addition to the Tonda PF Sport line-up, which has taken the place of the earlier Tonda GT as the collection's most dynamic and informal offering, maintains the 42mm diameter and 12.9mm thickness seen in previous versions, including those in rose gold, steel, and high-tech Ultra-Cermet. The case showcases the signature teardrop lugs and pushers of the Tonda PF family, while a more robust, less intricately cut knurled bezel distinguishes it from its platinum-bezelled counterparts. The design is further enhanced by an enlarged screw-down crown for improved grip, and a combination of brushed and polished finishes, ensuring a water resistance of 100 meters. The dial, unlike the classic barleycorn guilloché found in other Tonda PF models, features a unique “clou triangulaire″ pattern on its silver-toned surface. The absence of a date window at 4:30 and the subtle white-gold oval PF cartouche at 12 o’clock further streamline its appearance. The captivating green chosen for the sub-dials and peripheral scale is a direct homage to the crystal-clear waters of the Verzasca River, flowing through a landscape of alpine granite.

At its heart, this sophisticated chronograph is driven by the automatic in-house calibre PF070, developed in partnership with Vaucher Manufacture. This movement, measuring 30.6mm by 6.95mm, incorporates a column wheel, a vertical clutch, and a single-piece reset hammer. It operates at a high frequency of 5Hz, providing an impressive 65-hour power reserve. With COSC chronometer certification and exquisite hand-finishing, including satin-finished openworked bridges and a 22k rose gold skeletonized rotor, the movement is a testament to precision engineering. The timepiece is completed with a matching green rubber strap featuring a textile-like texture and a stainless steel folding clasp, all retailing for EUR 32,300.

This new timepiece from Parmigiani Fleurier beautifully merges technical excellence with artistic design, creating a watch that is not only a precision instrument but also a statement of refined taste. Its inspiration from the natural world, coupled with meticulous craftsmanship, reminds us that true beauty lies in the harmony between innovation and nature’s timeless elegance. Owning such a creation is an affirmation of appreciating the subtle nuances of luxury and the enduring spirit of horological mastery.
