At the recent Dubai Watch Week, Oris proudly launched its latest timepiece, the ProPilot Desert Edition, a distinctive iteration of their enhanced ProPilot Date model. This new edition revitalizes one of the brand's celebrated contemporary aviation watches by refining its form, presenting a more striking silhouette with crisp, precise lines. The dial ring, numerals, and slender hands have all received subtle updates, improving readability and bestowing a distinctly modern flair upon the watch.
The 41mm casing seamlessly blends robust carbon fiber with stainless steel components, all finished in a sleek grey PVD. The central carbon section and lugs are crafted using an advanced additive manufacturing technique pioneered by Oris engineers, ensuring a lightweight yet exceptionally durable and comfortable structure. This impressive case is paired with a black hybrid strap, combining rubber and textile, and features a re-engineered 'LIFT' clasp, now offering infinite adjustability for a perfect fit.
The most prominent aesthetic feature is the textured sand-beige dial, which evokes the natural colors and textures of desert landscapes. Aligning with the current trend in watch design towards earthy and natural color palettes, the Desert Edition achieves a harmonious balance between inviting warmth and technical accuracy. Black hands and numerals, treated with Super-LumiNova, guarantee superior contrast and legibility, while the date display at 6 o'clock is presented with white numerals against a black backdrop. The watch is powered by the automatic Oris Caliber 733, based on the Sellita SW200-1, providing a 41-hour power reserve and featuring Oris's iconic red rotor. With a water resistance of 10 bar and a sapphire crystal enhanced with double-sided anti-reflective coating, this timepiece is priced at approximately $3,600 USD.
