Norqain Unveils New Wild One Skeleton Chronograph

April 08

Norqain has officially launched its latest innovation, the Wild One Skeleton Chrono, during the prestigious Watches & Wonders 2026 event. This new high-performance sports watch showcases a distinctive flyback chronograph movement, prominently displayed through its skeletonized dial and transparent case back. Building upon the success of the Wild One collection, initially introduced in 2022 with the pioneering Norteq material, this new model further solidifies Norqain's commitment to advanced materials and robust design. The collection is available in three unique variations, each engineered to endure the demands of extreme athletic pursuits with remarkable shock resistance.

The cornerstone of the Wild One Skeleton Chrono's design is the proprietary Norteq material, an advanced carbon fiber composite that boasts exceptional strength while remaining incredibly lightweight. This material is six times lighter than steel and 3.5 times lighter than titanium, providing a superior blend of durability and comfort. Furthermore, Norteq can be manufactured in a wide spectrum of colors, offering diverse aesthetic options. The watch's complex 25-part case structure incorporates a rubber shock absorber, a titanium container for the movement, and a Norteq protective cage secured with screws, enabling it to withstand impacts of up to 5,000 g. The screw-down crown, available in black or grey rubber, ensures a water resistance of 200 meters, making it suitable for various aquatic activities.

All models in the Wild One Skeleton Chrono series share a 42mm matte case with a thickness of 13.6mm. The standard variant features a black Norteq carbon fiber cage complemented by black rubber shock absorbers and vibrant turquoise accents on the dial. A second edition, limited to 400 pieces, comes in a rich burgundy Norteq with black shock absorbers. For collectors seeking exclusivity, a special limited edition of 75 pieces is offered, featuring a PX Impact 18k red gold cage, a black Norteq caseback, grey shock absorbers, and elegant gold and grey highlights on the dial. The watch includes well-protected pushers for its chronograph functions: the pusher at 2 o'clock initiates and pauses the chronograph, while the one at 4 o'clock controls reset and restart.

The flyback chronograph caliber, a result of collaboration between Norqain and AMT (Sellita's specialized division), is a refined version of a movement first seen in the 2024 Independence model. This movement is based on a classic Sellita SW500, extensively modified to include a more sophisticated column wheel, a flyback function, and an extended power reserve of 62 hours. It is also COSC chronometer-certified and features personalized bridges, plates, and rotor, cementing its status as a proprietary Norqain caliber. The design prioritizes visibility, incorporating twin wafer-thin transparent discs above the movement at 12 o'clock for 30-minute elapsed times and at 6 o'clock for running seconds. Sub-dial hands are replaced with subtle printed pointer arrows, enhancing legibility. A sloping pulsometer scale on the flange assists athletes in monitoring their heart rate.

The flange also supports a chapter ring with applied indices that appear to float above the dial, further enhanced by a black bridge showcasing Norqain's mountain silhouette. The diamond-cut indices and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova, as is the arrow-shaped tip of the central seconds hand. The sapphire window on the caseback provides a clear view of the black openworked rotor, adorned with Norqain's double N mountain logo, and features a contemporary sandblasted, polished, and brushed finish. The three Wild One Skeleton Chrono models offer a choice of rubber straps with either pin buckles or folding clasps. Pricing begins at CHF 7,200 for the standard black model, CHF 7,300 for the burgundy edition, and escalates to CHF 18,950 for the distinguished red gold reference.

The Wild One Skeleton Chrono exemplifies Norqain's dedication to crafting resilient and visually striking timepieces that combine innovative materials with precise mechanical engineering, designed for performance and style in equal measure.
