Over the decades, it evolved from simple time-only manual-winding variants to incorporate more complex functionalities, including a traditional date window at six o'clock and a power reserve indicator, culminating in the innovative peripheral ring date complication driven by the in-house automatic calibre DUW 6101 in 2018.

Innovation in Miniaturization: The Peripheral Date Mechanism

The patented peripheral ring date complication was a significant leap for Nomos, allowing for an exceptionally slim movement profile by integrating the date mechanism around the gear train rather than layering it. Initially, the 35.2mm diameter of the DUW 6101 movement restricted its use to larger models like the 40.5mm Tangente 41 and later the Metro 41. While these larger versions were appreciated, the Tangente's extended angular lugs often made them feel more substantial on the wrist than their dimensions suggested. Addressing this, Nomos has skillfully re-engineered the outer date ring for the new 38.5mm case, shrinking the movement's diameter to 34mm while maintaining its impressive 3.6mm thinness. This modification not only results in a more harmonious and balanced presence on the wrist but also, with a case profile of just 7.4mm, firmly positions the watch as a sophisticated dress piece.

The Refined Aesthetics of the New Date Display
