John Hardy Unveils Expanded Flagship in New York City's SoHo District

April 20

John Hardy has unveiled its significantly expanded flagship store in Manhattan's vibrant SoHo neighborhood, marking a new chapter for the brand. This new retail space, located at 147 Spring St. and opened on April 16, replaces the previous Prince St. location, offering a much larger and more immersive experience at 1,800 square feet—double the size of its predecessor.

The store's design meticulously blends John Hardy's rich Balinese heritage with the contemporary vision of creative chairman Reed Krakoff. Visitors are immediately drawn in by expansive glass windows and a prominent 10-foot-tall sculpture of the 'Spear' cuff, one of Krakoff's initial creations for the brand. Inside, an impressive 25-foot sculpture, crafted by Balinese bamboo artist Gusti Ngurah Udianata without any adhesives or fasteners, serves as the centerpiece, echoing John Hardy's signature chain designs. The interior also incorporates natural elements such as oak-slatted walls, raw clay tiles, and a large floral rug, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflects the brand's commitment to sustainability. Splashes of terra cotta orange, a hallmark color for John Hardy, add a vibrant touch, while concrete tables by Marc Newsome and Warren McArthur provide comfortable spaces for client consultations, encouraging unhurried interaction with the brand's offerings.

Reed Krakoff emphasized the design philosophy, stating the aim was to create a luxurious yet comfortable and relaxing environment that fosters easy discovery of the collections. The store features both classic John Hardy designs and exciting new collections, including 'Icon Stud' and 'JH Lovestruck', which were developed in collaboration with Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell. This expansion and thoughtful redesign come as John Hardy celebrates its 50th anniversary, with company president Matt Tepper noting the brand's record-level performance across all channels. The new flagship is envisioned as a testament to John Hardy's future, aiming to deepen its connection with the SoHo community and its esteemed clientele by fully expressing the brand's identity, from its Artisan collection to innovative new lines.

This thoughtfully designed space exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to retail, where art, sustainability, and customer experience converge. It serves as a beacon for the brand's ongoing evolution, promising a future rich in creativity and connection within the dynamic world of fine jewelry.
