Jewellery & Gem ASIA Hong Kong Set to Open, Showcasing Innovation and Talent
The eagerly awaited Jewellery & Gem ASIA Hong Kong (JGA) exhibition is preparing to open its doors in June 2026, positioning itself as the primary mid-year business-to-business hub for jewellery and gemstone trade in Asia. This event aims to bring together a comprehensive range of finished jewellery, individual gemstones, and cutting-edge industry solutions for wholesale distribution. Additionally, JGA will host a design competition centered on gender-neutral colored gem jewellery, fostering new talent and highlighting inventive designs within the gemstone industry, along with special programs like ICA Plus and the NextGen Awards.
Scheduled from June 18 to 21, 2026, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) will transform into a vibrant marketplace for global jewellery and gemstone sourcing. Organized by Informa Markets Jewellery, the event will combine two distinct fairs under one roof, providing a streamlined experience for trade professionals. Visitors can expect to find over 1,100 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions, spread across more than 30 pavilions, making navigation and sourcing efficient.
Celine Lau, the Director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery, emphasized the crucial role of JGA in the international jewellery calendar. She noted that the mid-year timing allows wholesalers, distributors, retail chains, and jewellers to evaluate their performance from the first half of the year and strategize for future opportunities. This event also serves as an important precursor to the larger Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) exhibition held in September, making it a critical stop for businesses aiming for growth.
The exhibition is divided into two main sections: 'JGA: Jewellery' in Hall 1, which will showcase a diverse collection of finished jewellery, including pieces adorned with diamonds, coloured gemstones, pearls, and other precious materials, alongside designs crafted from plain metals. This hall also features the CORE Pavilion, dedicated to highlighting Hong Kong's jewellery community and its reputation for rapid innovation in both bespoke and high-volume manufacturing. In Hall 3, 'JGA: Diamonds, Gemstones & Pearls+' will present an exquisite selection of loose materials from leading international suppliers, including a wide range of diamonds, coloured gemstones, and various types of pearls, from Akoya to Tahitian and freshwater varieties. This section also hosts the Fine Design/Fine Gem Pavilion, attracting high-end brands, premium retailers, and collectors seeking unique and rare gems.
Beyond being a trading platform, JGA fosters innovation and collaboration. This year, there's a strong focus on colored gemstones through various initiatives. The Gender-Fluid Coloured Gem Jewellery Design Challenge encourages Asian design students to create groundbreaking genderless jewellery pieces that leverage the narrative power of coloured gemstones. Finalists will be announced at JGA, where attendees can vote for their favorite designs. The winning entries will be realized with sponsor support and exhibited at JGW in September, offering significant global visibility to emerging artists. Prizes include a sponsored trip to JGW 2026, ownership of the finished piece, media coverage, and a certificate presented at the JGW Fair Reception on September 16.
The Design Challenge encompasses three categories: Earrings, Rings, and Brooches, with a submission deadline of April 30, 6 PM Hong Kong Time. Furthermore, JGA will host discussions and panels on coloured gemstone topics, providing a preview of two major upcoming programs at JGW: ICA Plus and the NextGen Coloured Gem Excellence Awards by JWA (Jewellery World Awards). ICA Plus, a three-day conference co-organized by the International Colored Gemstone Association and Informa Markets Jewellery, will explore industry leadership, innovation, and trends in the colored gemstone market. The NextGen Awards will honor entrepreneurs and professionals under 45 who bring fresh perspectives and energy to the industry.
The Jewellery & Gem ASIA Hong Kong event is poised to be a significant gathering for the global jewellery trade, offering extensive sourcing opportunities, a platform for innovation, and a chance to recognize new talent. It serves as a vital meeting point for industry professionals to connect, discover new products, and stay informed about market trends, further strengthening its position as a leading event in the international jewellery calendar.
