H. Moser & Cie. and Reebok Unveil the Streamliner "Pump" Watch

April 14

Swiss watchmaker H. Moser & Cie. has partnered with sportswear giant Reebok to unveil a remarkable new timepiece: the Streamliner "Pump" watch. This collaboration brings together the worlds of high-end horology and iconic sneaker culture, creating a watch that is both innovative and whimsical. The design draws inspiration directly from Reebok's celebrated Pump sneaker, featuring a unique mechanism that allows the wearer to "pump" the watch to wind its movement. This limited-edition release is available in two distinct styles, black and white, each crafted from forged quartz and priced at $39,900.

The H. Moser & Cie. x Reebok Streamliner "Pump" watch is a testament to creative engineering. Positioned at the 8 o'clock mark on the dial, a vibrant orange power reserve indicator signals the watch's energy levels. Adjacent to it, integrated into the case, is a functional "pump" button, mirroring the distinctive inflation mechanism found on the tongue of Reebok's classic sneakers. Each press of this button physically winds the watch, adding approximately one hour of power reserve. The watch boasts a maximum power reserve of 74 hours, equivalent to 74 pumps, offering an engaging and interactive experience for its owner. Even after reaching full power, the button can be pressed purely for the tactile enjoyment it provides.

Measuring 40mm in diameter and 11.4mm in thickness (including the crystal), the watch's case is constructed from forged quartz fiber, available in either black or white. This futuristic material is wrapped around an internal titanium "sarcophagus," which houses the movement and is secured by a titanium caseback ring with a sapphire display. A traditional metal crown for time setting is located at 3 o'clock, and the entire timepiece is water-resistant up to 100 meters. The polished dials feature applied indices, while the hour and minute hands are equipped with anthracite grey or white Globolight inserts, emitting a green luminescence in low-light conditions, enhancing readability.

Beyond its playful exterior, the Streamliner "Pump" watch houses a meticulously modified HMC 500 small seconds movement. This caliber has been re-engineered into a manually wound mechanism that responds to the unique pumping action. The anthracite-finished bridges, adorned with H. Moser's signature double stripes, are now partially skeletonized, offering a glimpse into the intricate mechanics. The movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and contains 31 jewels, ensuring precision and reliability. The innovative winding system, while unconventional, highlights H. Moser's commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional watchmaking.

This exclusive collaboration blends serious horological craftsmanship with a sense of playful creativity. The H. Moser & Cie. x Reebok Streamliner "Pump" watch is a limited edition, with only 250 pieces available for each color variant. This unique offering caters to collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate distinctive designs and a fresh take on classic concepts. The watch comes with a color-matched integrated rubber strap, secured by a steel pin buckle engraved with the Moser logo, completing its modern and sporty aesthetic.

The partnership between H. Moser & Cie. and Reebok has resulted in a timepiece that stands out for its imaginative design and interactive functionality. It's a prime example of how watch brands can engage with popular culture while maintaining their high standards of mechanical excellence. The Streamliner "Pump" watch is not just a time-telling instrument; it's a conversation starter, a collector's item, and a tribute to two distinct yet harmoniously intertwined worlds.
