These new timepieces, the Senator Chronograph and the Senator Chronograph Navigator, build upon the foundation of the Calibre 37, first unveiled in 2014 as the manufacture's inaugural integrated automatic column-wheel chronograph. While sharing a common technical base, each model presents a distinct design philosophy, with one embracing a more traditional Senator aesthetic and the other drawing inspiration from historical pilot's watches.

Both new releases are notable for their refined dimensions and decluttered dial layouts, offering a more streamlined and elegant appearance compared to their predecessors. They are equipped with the advanced Calibre 37-24, an evolution of the original Calibre 37, designed to fit the slimmer cases without compromising on the robust technical features. This commitment to both aesthetic refinement and mechanical excellence underscores Glashütte Original's dedication to continuous innovation and meticulous craftsmanship within the realm of luxury watchmaking.

Refined Dimensions and Distinctive Aesthetics

The latest iterations of the Senator Chronograph series showcase a notable reduction in size, featuring a more wearable 41mm diameter and a slimmer 12.9mm thickness. This downsized profile, coupled with thoughtfully designed shorter, curved lugs, ensures a more comfortable fit on the wrist and imparts a sophisticated silhouette. The case, crafted from stainless steel, exhibits a harmonious blend of polished and satin-brushed finishes, complemented by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides for optimal clarity. The sapphire caseback offers an unobstructed view of the intricate movement within. Eschewing the previous models' rectangular pushers, the new designs incorporate classic mushroom-shaped pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock, lending a more traditional chronograph appearance. While the water resistance has been adjusted to 50m from the previous 100m, this change is not considered a significant drawback for these elegant timepieces. The Senator Chronograph presents a classical interpretation with its silver-white galvanic dial, adorned with a fine grainé finish. Applied solid-gold Roman numerals, treated with a blue coating, mark the hours, while blued-steel hands enhance the traditional appeal. The small seconds and 30-minute chronograph counters are symmetrically placed at 9 and 3 o'clock, each featuring a subtle vinyl-record inspired texture. The Panorama Date, framed in white gold, is positioned at 6 o'clock, benefiting from a simplified dial that omits the 12-hour counter and power-reserve indicator found in earlier models. This simplification creates a more open and balanced display, with the brand's signature now residing below noon and a tachymeter scale printed on the flange. In contrast, the Senator Chronograph Navigator adopts a sportier, pilot-watch aesthetic, distinguished by its unique crown and a matte black lacquered dial. The flyback complication is particularly noteworthy, enabling the chronograph to be stopped, reset, and immediately restarted with a single press, a feature that significantly enhances ease of use for repetitive timing tasks, and is especially pertinent for the Navigator variant's functional design ethos.

The Calibre 37-24 operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, ensuring precise timekeeping, and offers a substantial 70-hour power reserve, providing extended autonomy. With 47 jewels, the movement is a testament to intricate craftsmanship. It incorporates a silicon balance spring, which significantly boosts its resistance to magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations, thereby enhancing accuracy and reliability.
