Freeman's Concludes 2025 with Stellar Jewelry Auction
Unveiling Timeless Treasures: A Connoisseur's Collection Awaits
A Diverse Array of Masterpieces for Every Affectionado
April Matteini, Senior Vice President and Head of Jewelry at Freeman's, highlights that their ultimate jewelry auction of the year, titled "Important Jewelry," boasts an extensive selection catering to diverse tastes. This live event in New York is specifically curated to feature exceptional diamonds of considerable carat weight, rare and vivid gemstones, and iconic creations from premier design houses such as Graff, Bulgari, and Cartier. The sale further distinguishes itself by including valuable items sourced from several esteemed private collections, notably those of Canadian model and actress Dayle Haddon, prominent Chicago civic figure Maureen Dwyer Smith, and New York City's own Joan S. Kanof.
The Dazzling Highlights: Featuring a Spectacular Graff Diamond Ring
The crown jewel of the upcoming auction is undeniably a magnificent diamond ring by Graff, showcasing a central stone of 13.11 carats. This piece is projected to achieve between $250,000 and $350,000, leading a lineup of equally impressive diamond rings. Among these are a 17-carat round brilliant-cut diamond elegantly set in platinum, with an estimated value of $150,000 to $200,000; another features a 12.32-carat round brilliant-cut diamond, artfully framed by two trillion-cut diamonds, also mounted in platinum, estimated between $100,000 and $150,000. Completing this stellar quartet is a 10-carat oval diamond set on a gold band, surrounded by approximately 1.35 carats total weight of round and baguette diamonds, estimated at $80,000 to $120,000.
Vibrant Hues: An Exceptional Collection of Colored Gemstones
Beyond the scintillating diamonds, the auction presents a remarkable assortment of colored gemstones. A standout piece is a 2-carat cushion-cut Burmese ruby ring. This exquisite ruby, set in a platinum band adorned with diamonds, is accompanied by certification confirming no heat treatment, making it an extraordinarily rare and sought-after item in the current market. Other notable colored stone pieces include a Cartier Art Deco Giardinetto brooch, richly embellished with diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, and a Tiffany & Co. “Soleste” ring featuring a 4.36-carat Paraiba-type tourmaline encircled by a diamond halo.
Treasures from Illustrious Estates: The Dayle Haddon Collection
The collection sourced from Dayle Haddon, celebrated for its sophisticated and contemporary aesthetic, includes several key pieces. Among these are the stunning Van Cleef & Arpels platinum “Snowflake” earrings, adorned with 5.5 to 6 carats of round diamonds, estimated at $30,000 to $50,000. The collection also features significant works by Boucheron, notably a pair of diamond and yellow gold earrings, and a distinctively crafted bicolor gold, rock crystal, and emerald cuff bracelet, each reflecting Haddon's refined taste and the designer's innovative spirit.
