Formex Essence 39mm Automatic COSC: Enhanced Design and Performance

August 27

Formex has unveiled a refreshed version of its highly successful Essence 39mm timepiece, introducing a series of technical and ergonomic improvements. This updated model features an enhanced movement, a more secure screw-down crown, and a redesigned bracelet clasp, all seamlessly integrated without altering the watch's distinctive case design. These thoughtful upgrades are set to bolster the appeal of the Essence 39mm Automatic COSC, offering a more refined and robust wearing experience.

The stainless-steel case of the updated Essence 39mm Automatic COSC measures 39mm in diameter, 45.5mm from lug to lug, and has a thickness of 10.5mm. It retains the familiar blend of brushed surfaces, polished bevels, and four visible corner screws, along with Formex's patented Case Suspension System featuring a titanium inner container. A notable external change is the introduction of a screw-down crown, which Formex has ingeniously integrated into the existing suspension system. This modification enhances water resistance to 100 meters without compromising the watch's established profile.

The latest iteration of the Essence 39mm Automatic COSC is available with three distinct dial options. The classic blue dial makes a return, while the Alpine White variant now features blued hands and indexes for improved readability and visual contrast. A fresh addition to the collection is the Radiant Bronze dial, a warmer tone previously seen in Formex's Reef series. All three dials maintain the Essence's characteristic horizontal grooves, meticulously CNC-milled, along with applied indexes, faceted hands, and a date wheel at 6 o'clock that perfectly matches the dial's color. Both the hands and indexes are treated with Super-LumiNova BGW9 for superior low-light visibility.

One of the most significant upgrades lies in the heart of the watch. The Essence 39mm Automatic COSC now houses Sellita's advanced SW200-2 Power+ COSC movement, replacing the previous SW200-1. This new caliber operates at the same frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour but extends the power reserve from 42 hours to an impressive 65 hours. Furthermore, it brings advancements in winding efficiency, shock resistance, and the overall regulating system, ensuring enhanced precision and durability.

The bracelet has also received a substantial update. Developed in collaboration with Dexel, the new butterfly clasp allows for tool-free micro-adjustment directly on the wrist, offering up to 6mm of additional length in 3mm increments. The updated Formex Essence 39 Automatic COSC can be paired with various straps, including leather, nylon, and rubber options in black, blue, brown, green, and red, or with a stainless-steel bracelet. These versatile choices cater to diverse preferences and styles.

The rejuvenated Formex Essence 39mm Automatic COSC represents a thoughtful evolution of a popular design, blending aesthetic appeal with practical enhancements. With its upgraded movement, improved water resistance, and a more comfortable bracelet, this timepiece continues to offer exceptional value and performance to watch enthusiasts.
