Leading our list is the Seiko Prospex HBC001, a distinctive dive GMT timepiece that masterfully blends diving functionality with travel convenience. While many GMT watches adopt a dive aesthetic, the HBC001 (available in green and black) truly integrates both complications seamlessly. It caters to adventurers who travel to exotic diving locations, making the combination of local time, home time, date, and dive time indicators highly practical. Seiko's design team skillfully executed this complex integration, creating a visually coherent and functional watch.

Our penultimate selection is the Seiko Prospex Marinemaster HBF001, the newest iteration in the storied Marinemaster lineage, which began with the iconic SBDX001. The HBF001 marks a significant evolution, featuring substantial enhancements over its predecessor, the SLA079. This model showcases a 42.6mm stainless steel case, a robust 14.1mm thickness, and a lug-to-lug measurement of 49mm, all while maintaining a formidable 300-meter depth rating. The updated HBF001 now boasts a sleek black ceramic bezel insert with a modernized font for the diving scale. Its black dial is adorned with applied hour markers enhanced with LumiBrite, and notably, the date window has been repositioned from 4:30 to a cleaner 3 o’clock position.

A pivotal upgrade lies within: the new Seiko 8L45 caliber, a significant improvement over the 8L35 found in the SLA079. This movement, inspired by the Grand Seiko 9S65 caliber, features an increased jewel count from 25 to 36 and boasts enhanced accuracy, now rated at -5/+10 seconds per day, a notable improvement from the previous -10/+15 seconds. Furthermore, the power reserve has been extended from 50 hours to a more generous 72 hours.

Priced at €3,800, the Seiko Prospex HBF001 stands as Seiko’s most premium dive watch. Its on-wrist experience immediately reveals the substantial improvements over its predecessors, positioning it as a strong contender against many rivals in its price bracket, securing its rightful place on our list.

Our final selection is the Seiko Prospex SPB453, the lauded successor to the immensely popular SPB143, introduced in 2024. As detailed by Thomas, this timepiece offers refined enhancements to an already exceptional diver. The SPB453 features a 40mm stainless steel case, a slender 13mm thickness, and a lug-to-lug measurement of 46.4mm, complemented by a substantial 300-meter depth rating. The case design is notably more streamlined than its predecessor, the SPB143, which had a thicker and longer profile. This automatic movement maintains a steady beat at 21,600 vibrations per hour and now boasts an extended 72-hour power reserve, surpassing the 70 hours offered by the 6R35 in the SPB143. Concluding its sophisticated appeal, the three-row bracelet has been meticulously refined with shorter individual links and a more compact clasp. While it retains a wetsuit extension and two micro-adjustment positions, these now require a tool for adjustment. All things considered, the Seiko Prospex SPB453, priced at €1,400, represents one of the finest dive watches available today, making it the perfect closing choice for our list.
