Czapek Unveils Special Edition Timepieces to Mark New Flagship Boutique Opening

September 03

Czapek & Cie, a distinguished name in haute horlogerie, recently inaugurated its new flagship store at Quai des Bergues 27 in Geneva. This significant opening coincides with Geneva Watch Days and pays homage to the brand's origins at this very address, where its founders laid the groundwork for their legacy. To commemorate this milestone, Czapek has unveiled two exquisite special edition timepieces: the Quai des Bergues Midnight in Geneva and the Place Vendôme Complicité Glacier Blue, each embodying the brand's commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and historical reverence.

The Quai des Bergues 27 location holds profound historical importance for Czapek. In 1839, it was here that François Czapek and Antoni Patek established Patek, Czapek & Cie, a partnership that produced prestigious high-end timepieces for six years. After the partnership's conclusion in 1845, Czapek went on to found his own brand and open a boutique on Paris's Place Vendôme, another iconic site that inspired the revival of the Czapek brand in 2015 with the launch of the original Quai des Bergues collection. The new Geneva flagship, which officially opened its doors in July 2026, serves as a modern link to this rich past, reinforcing the brand's foundational narrative.

Among the celebratory releases is the Quai des Bergues Midnight in Geneva. This special edition dress watch features a 40.5mm stainless steel case, an update from its 2019 predecessor. It boasts a deep blue aventurine glass dial, reminiscent of a star-filled night sky, achieved through tiny metallic particles embedded in the glass. The watch incorporates two recessed sub-dials for small seconds and power reserve indication, with the aventurine background meticulously cut and set onto the metal plate. Powering this elegant timepiece is Czapek's proprietary manual-winding SXH1 caliber, offering an impressive seven-day power reserve. The case's distinctive hollowed-out flanks, bead-blasted interiors, and polished edges, along with sharply sloped lugs, enhance its refined aesthetic. This model is a limited edition of just 18 pieces, making it a highly exclusive offering.

The second extraordinary release is the Place Vendôme Complicité Glacier Blue, presented as a limited series of 10 individually numbered pieces in luxurious platinum cases. This timepiece showcases an intricate openworked double escapement, a concept originally brought to life by master watchmaker Bernhard Lederer in 2023. The design adheres to the signature Place Vendôme layout, featuring sub-dials forming a pyramid base and a third at the apex. The escapements are positioned at 4:30 and 7:30, connected by a differential at the 12 o'clock position, with their mechanisms fully visible through two sapphire bridges. The new light blue grained mainplate beautifully highlights the hypnotic spectacle of the independent 3Hz balance wheels oscillating in opposing directions. The 41.8mm platinum case, with a thickness of 13.3mm, features sandblasted, hollowed-out lugs and integrated crown guards. The manual-winding Calibre 8 movement provides a 72-hour power reserve, displayed between the two balances, and its reverse side reveals the sophisticated haute horlogerie finishes of Lederer's 293-part mechanism.

These two remarkable timepieces, the Quai des Bergues Midnight in Geneva and the Place Vendôme Complicité Glacier Blue, are available at the new Quai des Bergues 27 flagship boutique in Geneva, as well as through authorized retailers globally. Each watch embodies Czapek's dedication to preserving its historical connections while pushing the boundaries of contemporary watchmaking, offering collectors a chance to own a piece of the brand's evolving legacy.
