Chopard L.U.C XPS Prussian Blue: A Classic Reimagined

April 15

Chopard commemorates three decades since the establishment of its Fleurier-based manufacturing facility with the debut of the L.U.C XPS Prussian Blue. This exquisite addition to the L.U.C collection, named in honor of Louis-Ulysse Chopard, exemplifies the brand's dedication to technical mastery and sophisticated design. Building upon the success of the 2024 green sector-dial model, this new iteration retains all the critical specifications and chronometer certification, distinguishing itself with a fresh, vintage-inspired blue dial that evokes timeless elegance.

The L.U.C XPS Prussian Blue showcases a case meticulously crafted from Chopard's innovative Lucent Steel. This advanced alloy is celebrated for its remarkable brilliance, exceptional durability, and high recycled content, reflecting a commitment to sustainable luxury. With dimensions of 40mm in diameter and a slender 7.2mm thickness, the watch presents an elegant and perfectly balanced form, ensuring unparalleled comfort for the wearer. The case features a harmonious blend of polished surfaces and vertically brushed flanks, while an anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial, and a transparent case back offers a glimpse into the intricate mechanics within. This refined timepiece boasts a water resistance of 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear.

The dial, presented in a captivating Prussian Blue with a sunburst satin finish, features a sector-style layout reminiscent of classic designs from the 1930s. Two concentric rings elegantly divide the hours and minutes, with the hour ring positioned closer to the center and the outermost minute track marked with double-digit intervals every five minutes. Rhodium-plated dauphine hands gracefully indicate the time, while a small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock not only provides visual symmetry but also fulfills the chronometer certification requirement. This thoughtful design ensures both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality.

Driving this magnificent timepiece is the automatic L.U.C calibre 96.12-L, a sophisticated evolution of Chopard's inaugural in-house movement, first introduced in 1996. This caliber measures a mere 3.30mm in thickness and incorporates a 22k gold micro-rotor. It also features Chopard's innovative Twin technology, which utilizes two stacked barrels to deliver an impressive 65-hour power reserve. The movement is certified by COSC, guaranteeing its precision, and includes a stop-seconds mechanism for accurate time setting. The finishing is executed in a traditional style, adorned with elegant Côtes de Genève decoration.

The watch is complemented by a rich brown calfskin strap, accented with ecru stitching, and secured with a Lucent Steel pin buckle. The Chopard L.U.C XPS Prussian Blue is now a permanent fixture in the regular collection, available at a retail price of EUR 12,900. It offers watch enthusiasts a blend of classic design, advanced engineering, and sustainable craftsmanship.
