Bulgari Unveils the Highly Anticipated 37mm Octo Finissimo Automatic Watch

April 13

Bulgari has finally answered the long-standing wishes of watch enthusiasts with the introduction of a new, more compact 37mm Octo Finissimo Automatic. This highly anticipated release, debuted at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2026, showcases a comprehensive re-engineering of the iconic design, aiming to provide a refined aesthetic and enhanced functionality in a smaller package. The collection features a brand-new movement and thoughtful design updates that promise improved wearability and a fresh appeal for a wider audience.

Bulgari Unveils Enhanced Octo Finissimo Automatic at Watches & Wonders 2026

At the prestigious Watches & Wonders Geneva 2026 event, Bulgari officially launched the new Octo Finissimo Automatic in a 37mm case size, a significant reduction from its original 40mm. This development comes in response to persistent requests from consumers and industry experts for a more understated yet equally striking variant. Fabrizio Buonamassa, Executive Director of Product Design at Bulgari, emphasized that this is not merely a scaled-down version but a complete reimagining, ensuring that the distinctive proportions and intricate details of the Octo Finissimo remain intact.

The decision to delay the 2025 launch until now underscores Bulgari's commitment to ensuring timely delivery to retailers, a strategic move praised by industry observers. The new collection comprises four distinct models, with entry-level options in two titanium finishes: a sand-blasted titanium (Reference 104089) and a variant combining polished and brushed surfaces (Reference 104351). A luxurious 18k yellow gold version (Reference 104120) is also available, alongside an ultra-thin minute repeater (Reference 104250) in sand-blasted titanium, which is notably one of the smallest and lightest minute repeaters currently on the market.

A key innovation lies in the newly designed BVF100 movement. While maintaining a similar dial aesthetic to its 40mm predecessor, the BVF100 offers an impressive 72-hour power reserve, an increase from 60 hours, despite being physically smaller. This new caliber measures 2.35mm in thickness and 31mm in width, boasting a reduced total volume of 1774 cubic millimeters compared to the BVL138's 2268 cubic millimeters. Comprising 176 components and 31 jewels, operating at 3 Hertz, the movement also features a visually striking 30-degree beveling on its plates and bridges, which enhances light reflection and aesthetic appeal. Octagonal screws, designed for improved grip and ease of servicing, further highlight Bulgari's dedication to both form and function.

Moreover, the bracelet has undergone a complete overhaul. Previously, the wide links were a single piece; now, they are crafted from two distinct components, allowing for diverse finishing techniques like the brushed and polished combination seen in some new models. This modular construction also facilitates easier assembly and maintenance, eliminating traditional spring bars in favor of a solid end-link secured by octagonal screws. The redesigned clasp integrates seamlessly into the bracelet, contributing to a slimmer profile and enhanced wearer comfort. Despite these advancements, the watches maintain a 3ATM (30m) water resistance, a characteristic shared with previous titanium models, distinguishing them from the 40mm steel versions which offered 10ATM.

The introduction of the 37mm Octo Finissimo Automatic is a testament to Bulgari's responsiveness to market demands and its pursuit of horological perfection. This size variant promises to resonate with a broader demographic, providing a more versatile and comfortable fit without compromising the distinct elegance and technical prowess that define the Octo Finissimo line. The blend of innovative movement design, meticulous craftsmanship, and enhanced wearability sets a new benchmark for ultra-thin luxury timepieces, making it an exciting prospect for collectors and enthusiasts alike. The range of materials and finishes, from sand-blasted titanium to opulent 18k yellow gold, along with the extraordinary minute repeater, ensures there is a model to captivate diverse preferences within the high-end watch market. The 37mm Octo Finissimo is set to become a beloved addition to Bulgari's esteemed collection.
